17th Annual Tour de Bronx
Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. & Transportation Alternatives Tour de Bronx New York State's Largest Free Bicycling Event Sunday, October 23, 2011 Online Registration has closed, but it's not too late to join the fun! You may register the morning of the ride at 9:30 am at Grand Concourse & E. 161st Street at the Bronx County Courthouse, (near Yankee Stadium). Please arrive early to expedite the process. See the borough's historic districts, vibrant neighborhoods, beautiful waterfront and gorgeous greenways from the best possible vantage point: your bicycle. Ride on the Sheridan Expressway, closed to traffic for Tour de Bronx riders. After crossing the finish line, enjoy an end-of-ride festival at the New York Botanical Garden. Check-in begins at 9:30 am. One convenient starting location at the Bronx County Building near Yankee Stadium 25-mile riders: Go to 158th Street between Grand Concourse & Walton Avenue Convenient to the D and 4 trains at 161st Street -- Yankee Stadium and Metro North at the Yankees -- E153 Street station. Choose the route that's right for you: The 25-Mile Ride: The 40-Mile Ride: The pace is significantly faster on this ride which covers a greater distance in the same amount of time. This ride goes through City Island and SUNY Maritime College. It is recommended only for experienced cyclists who are comfortable riding in traffic. THERE IS NO SAFETY CELL ON THIS RIDE.
